Lincoln Lewis De Silva

Melaka-Johor

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my vocation story.

My name is Lincoln Lewis De Silva. I grow up in Malacca where I joined Rabbani Vocation camp to give me a helping hand in discovering my calling. At the same time, God chose me and called me to answer my vocation to the priesthood. I asked God for a sign, and HE gave me two signs.

Firstly, it was in the form of traffic lights. From my house to the Vocation Camp, there are three sets of traffic lights. When I use this road, the traffic lights are usually red but when I reached the Vocation Camp, I was shocked that all the light were green the whole way! Secondly, there was a voice from heaven. While I was receiving the Holy Eucharist and later sitting down, I looked at the tabernacle and a voice spoke to me, “Come, come, come follow me.” I knew God was calling me. Then I decided to go to Chiang Mai, Thailand to Seven Fountain to do my vocation discernment into the priesthood. There, I spent my time meditating and reading the Bible passages during the week-long silent retreat. While I was meditating on the Bible passage, I suddenly heard a voice and felt the presence of the Holy Spirit saying “not you chose me but I chose you from the womb”.

The next day, I spoke to my Retreat Master and he said. “Your retreat ends here. Go to the main chapel to do your thanksgiving. Your vocation is very clear. What more do you want?” He continued “Lincoln, do you want Jesus to come down and appear to you, and only then will you believe he is calling you to the priesthood?” So, I came back to Malaysia, to Johor, and went to meet my Bishop. He told me that I had a vocation. I started my journey with the Mission Community School. After completing one year there, I have continued my journey at College General Seminary Penang.

Now I am in Philosophy Year One. Life is just like a rollercoaster, but God is always there to guide you. HE gives us life challenges because he loves us and so that we will be stronger to face our future.

Please continue to pray for me in my journey to priesthood.
