Developmental Psychology

Aim of the Course

“Grace builds on Nature” by integrating the findings of Developmental Psychology with Christian Spirituality.

To understand the different stages of life-span development, the “crisis” of each stage, and its impact on spiritual growth.

To trace the human journey toward self-actualization and to recognize its parallel in the spiritual journey.

Course Content

An overview of Developmental Psychology: purpose of study, life stages, outline of psychological theories of life-span development.

Freud’s theory of psychosexual development in childhood.

Erikson’s psychosocial theories.

Maslow’s theory of self-actualization.

Psychological growth and Christian maturity.

Assessment

A 10 - 15 page typewritten research paper
