External students articles on Antropology & Scripture
Tan Khar Hoay What is Anthropology? That was the question that prompted me to attend Fr. Edwin Paul’s course on Anthropology – also called the philosophy of the human person. Before attending the class, I had no clue at all what to expect…. first session, a little knowledge…. second session, was feeling confused by all the philosophers and their thinking…… third session, more enlightened by Fr. Edwin’s clear explanation as he has this wonderful way of making the subject come alive! Looking forward to be further enlightened! Lilian Cheah “The Gospel of St Matthew is one of the first semester 2009 lectures conducted at College General for the seminarians and opened to the laity. With the intention of wanting to know the Word of God better, I decided to join. Fr Gerard’s lectures are clear as he takes time to explain the passages and allows us to field questions whenever we are in doubt. It is also an eye opener as reading the Gospel does not give us much depth but when events and its surrounding situations are being explained, we get a clearer picture and a better understanding of what St Matthew intended to put forward. Comparing similar events from the Gospel of Matthew with that of Mark and Luke, showed us that each writer had a different focus as their source of information may not have necessarily been the same. The Word of God continues to amaze us as a few friends and I find that each lecture has a learning spiritual growth for us.” |
